this raging current

of the river Femme,

if you can’t handle

untied tongues

free-thinking lungs

breathing for themselves,

if you can’t handle

fragile wings

with razor sharp teeth

and insatiable hunger,

if you can’t handle

the goddess, the hunter

Athena, the mother

of wisdom and war,

won’t settle for less,

won’t beg you for more,

if you can’t handle

the perfect balance

of beauty and rage,

of war and grace,

if you can’t handle

the weight I gain

in knowledge and faith

and the life I create,

if you can’t handle

the gravity of my worth,

the insanity I birth,

my inhuman thirst

to put myself first,

if you can’t handle

all these curves

serving a purpose

beyond being

your pincushion,

if you can’t handle

all this woman,

you don’t deserve her.
