SEVEN YEARS

they say your body

replaces itself

every seven years.

your cells replicate,

replace,

remold.

but I still feel you

deep in my bones

every time

I’m alone.

it hasn’t quite

been seven years,

so I can still

feel your hands

around my throat

begging me

to open up for you.

years may

have passed,

but every cell

in my body

s h r i e k s

every time

they feel you

near me.

but I won’t

let you near me

ever again...

even though

I feel you

underneath

my skin

with

every

breath.

it’s getting

harder

and harder

to breathe

evenly.

but still,

I breathe.
