I am the ice queen.
I am cold comfort
on a hot morning
after a long night
of sweating
tossing
and turning.
I am the ice queen,
the one you turn to
when you need relief
from the long summer heat,
when you need someone
to fill your glass
and chill your drink.
I am the ice queen,
encased in this glacier
for no one is strong enough
to face her,
to pick her up and
d i s p l a c e her.
I am the ice queen.
One frigid stare
is enough to frost the air,
freeze you right there
where you stand.
My embrace is warm
but my frostbitten hands
can’t hold much more.
I am the ice queen.
But loving you
is thawing me.
