after Anna Eisch, "Rid of You"

step one:
gargle mouthwash and spit you out.
repeat until every lover who comes after you is tasteless.
step two:
throw up throw out everything you ever gave me.
which was everything but your heart.
step three:
set it all on fire in the backyard.
using all the blood, sweat, and tears I’ve shed as accelerant.
step four:
bottle everything up.
in all the wine bottles I’ve emptied since you left.
step five:
cut off all my hair
to forget how good it felt when you ran your fingers through it.
step six:
regret it all.
but not more than I regret you.
