Is it really worth the damage
searching for yourself
deep within
your wreckage?
Digging through
the broken
the bleeding
the bruised
parts of you
for a heart that’s
no longer beating?
For lungs
no longer breathing?
Is it worth
getting hurt
all over again
when you finally find it
beating for someone else,
breathing without your help?
Is the damage
worth it?
Is there a bandage
big enough
to close up
the scars on your arms
from digging too far?
To bandage your heart
that’s beating too hard?
Is it worth the risk,
breaking yourself
beyond what you can fix?
If you answered yes
to any of these questions,
you may be entitled
to serious consequences.
Such as:
bleeding out,
giving up,
never being enough,
when all you had to do
was get up
and save yourself.
Answer “no,”
and get some help.
